Abstract–Food Stickers is a digital concept deployed in the physical shopping situation of the supermarket, which aims at facilitating dialogue between children (3-6 years) and their parents about the origin of food products. The concept has been developed from a user-centered approach for FDB to promote their core values and increase the member activity in the organisation. Food Stickers is present on two platforms targeting children: In-store touch screens as well as a booklet for stickers earned from completing assignments in the supermarket. This paper describes the development process of the concept and discusses the design from theoretical perspectives. Furthermore, business aspects of the concept is presented and possible risks are identified.

The vision of our concept “Playful Prayers” is to bring attention to the presence of the church as an integrated part of the city area through playful

Vision–The vision of our concept “Playful Prayers” is to bring attention to the presence of the church as an integrated part of the city area through playful interaction with the physical building and by the use of light and sound. By encouraging citizens to engage in a playful activity within the church area, we wish to expand the message of the church to reach outside the physical walls of the building. We would like to thank Stefanskirken at Nørrebrogade for allowing us to use their church as our playground.

Description–Playful Prayers begins in the trees in front of the church, where telephone receivers hang from the branches. The receivers are luring people through whispers like “Hey! Over here! I am just hanging here, pick me up, please!”. The receivers enable the users to record their own personal prayer for Nørrebro.

The concept fully outplays on the walls of the church. After users have recorded their prayers, random bricks will light up, to represent them. They can then go and press the brick to hear their prayer out loud. Initiating other bricks will either start other people’s prayers or play background music for the prayers. Thereby, the users can listen to each other’s prayers and at the same time play around with them, to make different samples. It is also possible to just start by playing with the bricks, without recording a prayer.

Places of transit affects our senses in a different ways. Through the use of mobile phones, how can our senses be altered when walking through Nørreport Station

Abstract–Places of transit affects our senses in a different ways. Through the use of mobile phones, we try to alter our senses when walking through Nørreport Station, a busy transit hub in the center of Copenhagen. We reflect upon how the perception of our surroundings and filtering of impressions is influenced by this changed way of looking at the world and relate our observations to relevant pieces of art.

Exam project in a course about digital aesthetics about how the mobile phone mediates our experience of our physical surroundings. Focusing on the auditory and visual functionalities in the phones two experiments on Nørreport Station were conducted, Copenhagen.

Auditory Narrative

We connected the protagonist with a narrator by regular dial-up functionalities from mobile phones. The protagonist would use a headset to listen to the narrator’s voice. The narrator would then walk just a few meters behind the protagonist, hence being able to comment on the exact environment and surroundings. We worked with different types of auditory input from the narrator: In one of them the narrator would comment on the surroundings with a neutral attitude towards other people and the physical environment (e.g. odours, buses, and crosswalks). In a different setup the narrator would tell the walk as a fictional story, a kind of fairy tale, where the narrator could interpret the surroundings (e.g. people being imagined as trolls, princesses, and trains being huge dragons).

Put mouse over the image below to see an illustration of the auditory narrative

Visual Reproduction

Put mouse over the image below to see an illustration of the visual reproduction

In one situation the protagonist got so embedded into the mixture of realities that he was not able to detect which reality was real and which one was the past. In the past video a bus has crossed the pedestrian crossing, that the protagonist was currently crossing. The inability to detect the real from the past scarred the protagonist, and made him afraid that he was going to get hit by the bus from the past.

The awareness of the visual aspects of the transit space, was explored by focusing on how we experienced following a route determined by another person. The first person, the protagonist, had to walk around while recording the route with a mobile phone camera. For a second person to be able to see the video while filming his own route we manufactured a holder for two phones that allowed one of the phones to show a video and the other one to record. By using this holder the protagonist’s recording became a guide for the second person. Doing this, the protagonist became the narrator and the second person the protagonist. The second person was now experiencing two layers of reality simultaneously – one that had happened some minutes earlier and one layer which was present. Hereby the protagonist had to relate to both layers at the same time. Finally, a third person was giving the second person’s video and had to film his route as well.

Abstract—This paper sets out to predict a possible
implementation of tracking technologies as parental tools in
Danish families, as it is not yet a common phenomenon. Through
a qualitative focus group it examines the opinions of Danish
Despite already established practices of mobile phones in microcoordination,
the participants are skeptical of tracking
technologies, as they attach much importance to children’s
private lives.
